STARTING A NEW CHAPTER: WHAT TO EXPECT
My practice aims to address concerns regarding anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, substance use and addictive disorders, relationship distress and couples counseling, shame and resistance to vulnerability. Individual and group counseling sessions are structured to holistically target presenting behavioral concerns and encourage insight, self-awareness, and self-regulation with interventions based in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. My practice is built upon the principles of inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and increased access for those in need. If you require any special accommodations, please do not hesitate to let me know. I so look forward to meeting you and working together to expand the potential for healing, acceptance, and growth.
ABOUT ME
"When under, remember the surface.
When on the surface, remember the deep. When our days are turbulent and troubled, our challenge is to remember that the wave is not the sea. Though it tosses us about, the tossing will pass if we do not fight it."
- Mark Nepo
I received my Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University in 2019, and my approach to counseling is very much informed by my own experiences, struggles, and eventual recovery. I have learned that there is no "one size fits all" paradigm for counseling, and that the idiosyncrasies of mental health concerns demand a holistic approach to every individual. My intention is always, first and foremost, to treat the person, not the diagnosis. I am profoundly aware of the fear, shame, ambivalence, anger, anxiety, depression, and myriad other states of being that are common to our walk through life, and believe that they can be channeled into motivation for change, when viewed from a new or alternative perspective, and paired with new coping strategies and techniques. I hope to one day walk with you on your journey to wellness, and look forward to discovering the limitless possibilities of your future.
